When To Contact The Office

  • Severe discomfort that is waking you up at night or spontaneously during the day (unprovoked)
  • Severe discomfort to temperature that does not go away after 1-2 minutes (it lingers)
  • Swelling outside of your mouth
  • Difficulty swallowing or breathing
  • You have lost or broken your temporary crown or bridge

 After Care Instructions

  • Numbness – The local anesthetic will cause you to be numb for several hours after you leave the office. Be very careful not to bite, chew, pinch, or scratch the numb area.
  • It is common for the jaw and gums to be sore following the procedure
  • Patients may wear a temporary crown after the procedure. A temporary is meant to protect the underlying tooth.
  • Please avoid sticky foods that may dislodge the temporary crown. (ie. gum, raisins, fruit snacks, candy)
  • Keep the area clean by brushing, flossing and using mouthwash daily
  • When flossing, snap the floss through the contacts of the temporary and slide the floss out. Do not floss up through the contact again. This may dislodge the temporary.
  • Sensitivity is a common post-operative symptom especially with crowns or bridges associated with deep fillings. These symptoms generally go away in a short period of time. Symptoms can last from several days to several weeks. Please contact the office if symptoms persist beyond 2 weeks, do not decline, or are not manageable with over the counter pain medication.
